Join the Student Council!

What is the Student Council?

  • Student Council is a group of students who want to make a change here on campus. You must be responsible, creative, and have school spirit! 
  • Meetings will be held on Fridays. Students must have all weekly assignments completed to participate.
  • You do not have to have a position to be in student council! You can be part of our student body! 
  • Student Council will plan: 
    • Spirit days
    • Halloween, Valentine’s Day, and Spring Dance
    • Fundraisers
    • All school activities such as the end of the year social
  • First event will be Movie Under the Stars in September for students and their families.

If You Are Running For a Position

  • Interest Form due to Ms. Barkley by August 11 (you cannot run unless you turn in this form).
  • Posters can be hung up on August 15th.
  • Written Speeches are due to Ms. Barkley by August 17th.
  • Speeches and Elections will be Friday August 18th.
  • Students will know the full results on Monday August 21st.

Available Positions

President

  • Must have attended Pieceful Solutions for at least one year
  • Represents the student body at school
  • Develops agenda for and lead student council meetings 
  • Knows the basic rules of parliamentary procedure 
  • Does not vote unless there is a tie 
  • Is in constant contact with the Vice President with regards to Student Council
  • Conducts themselves with academic integrity and exemplary conduct 
  • Must remain unbiased at all times

Vice President

  • Must have attended Pieceful Solutions for at least one semester
  • Knows the basic rules of parliamentary procedure 
  • Serves in the absence of the president 
  • Is in constant contact with the president with regards to Student Council 
  • Conducts themselves with academic integrity and exemplary conduct 

Public Relations

  • Makes school aware of upcoming events 
  • Talks to classes about events
  • Conducts themselves with academic integrity an exemplary conduct 

Secretary

  • Keeps attendance 
  • Keeps accurate minutes and meetings 
  • Provides neat copies for each member
  • Helps create flyers/posters for upcoming events
  • Reports the meeting minutes from the previous meeting 

Treasurer

  • Is in charge of Student Council funds and bank account
  • Presents a financial report at each Student Council meeting
  • Keeps track of money records, present and past
  • Researches and presents options of spending for events, etc.

Spirit Coordinator

  • Selects theme days after discussion within Student Council 
  • Promotes theme days with posters and announcements 
  • Organizes officers and reps to make morning announcements  
  • Organizes theme day events  

Class Representative  

  • Is the go to person for their grade
  • Brings any new ideas from their grade to the Student Council Meeting
